This English version is a translation, for convenience. La version française fait foi: the French text prevails.
GameRadar keeps as little data as possible, only to recommend games to you and protect your account. No ads, no audience measurement, no resale, no script or font from another site.
Data controller
Darvelize (the publisher's pseudonym, see the legal notice), reachable at gameradarapp@gmail.com.
What is kept, why and on what basis
- Your account: your email address and your password, kept only in a hashed form (never in clear text). With “Continue with Google”: your Google account's identifier and your address, without any Google token. To create your account and sign you in. Basis: the performance of the terms of use.
- Your sessions: for each signed-in device, a session token, your IP address and your browser's name. To keep you signed in and protect your account. Bases: the terms of use and legitimate interest (security).
- Your gaming profiles: the public identifiers and names of the Steam, Xbox and PlayStation profiles you link, and a copy of what they show publicly (games, play time, achievements and trophies, profile picture). To compute your recommendations. Basis: the terms of use.
- Your choices: games added by hand, progress and opinion on your games, tags, “Not interested”, subscriptions, theme and language. For your recommendations and your history. Basis: the terms of use.
- The account's emails (activation, forgotten password): your address and the message, passed to the sending service. Basis: the terms of use.
- The server log: IP address, date and page requested (without its parameters). For security and to fix failures. Basis: legitimate interest.
Your recommendations are computed automatically from your gaming data, for you alone; they have no legal effect and serve no other purpose.
How long
- Your account and your choices: until you delete your account, or after 3 years without signing in (deleted automatically). An account never activated: 7 days.
- A session: 7 days, extended when you use the site; erased when you sign out or when it ends.
- The copy of your gaming profiles: read again every 6 hours at most when you use the site; erased when you unlink the profile (or delete your account), unless another player has linked it too.
- The links sent by email: 1 hour.
- The server log: 6 months.
- The encrypted copy of the database, outside the host: 30 days.
Who else sees them
- Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd, Cyprus) hosts the site and its data, in France (Paris).
- Brevo (France) sends the account's emails: it receives your address and the message, on servers in the European Union.
- Google (Google Ireland Ltd), only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
- Google Drive (Google Ireland Ltd) keeps a copy of the database each night, encrypted before it leaves: Google cannot read it. It is only used to restore the site after a failure.
- Valve (Steam), Microsoft (Xbox) and Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation): the server asks them for the public history of the profiles you link, with their public identifiers, never your email address.
- RAWG (rawg.io): the server asks it for the tags of games Steam does not know, with their title only, never an identifier, a username or your email address.
- Your browser shows the pictures of the games and profiles directly from the servers of Steam, Microsoft, PlayStation and RAWG: they then see your IP address, as on their own sites.
No one else, unless the law requires it (a request from a judicial authority).
Cookies
The site only uses strictly necessary cookies, exempt from consent: no banner, nothing that follows you elsewhere.
- The session cookie: keeps you signed in (7 days).
- The Google sign-in cookie: protects that step, for the time of the sign-in (a few minutes).
- The preferences cookie: remembers the theme and the language chosen on this device (1 year).
Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a readable format to take it elsewhere. To erase everything at once: Profile › My account › Delete my account. For the rest, write to gameradarapp@gmail.com: answer within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07).
Age
The site is for people aged 15 and older.
Security
Encrypted connection (HTTPS), hashed passwords, no Google token kept, limits against repeated attempts, server access reserved to the publisher.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes too; an important change will be pointed out to you.
